The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Romans 8:26

Have you ever had to redirect a small child? What if there are times that God lovingly redirects us? Have you ever had God redirect you? If so, what did the Lord teach you through being redirected?  God’s word shows us that the Lord is a God of Intervention. He is the Divine Intruder who breaks into our life when we least expect it to redirect the path we are on.

Sometimes the path we are on is a destructive one and the Lord redirects us. Sometimes God redirects our path so we can intersect with another person in a Divine Appointment. There have been times where I have been redirected to move hundreds of miles away. Each time I have been redirected as an adult resulted in God doing something positive in my life. It may have not been fun at the time, but in the end it was good.

The story of the Tower of Babel from Genesis 11 is the narrative of the Divine Intruder intervening in a group headed for the cliff. The serious sin of the people put them in direct conflict with God. Only the Divine Intruder could save them from their own demise.

As we grow in faith, we begin to realize that God loves us so much that He is willing to break into our life. He does not ask permission. God is more concerned about our faith walk than our personal comfort. The Lord is willing to shut doors in our life for our own good. These may be doors that may never open again. He then opens new doors we would never go through if the He was not guiding us. The Lord may even carry us down the road along a new path.

The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:26 – And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.[1]Think about how much the Lord loves you as you read this! We are weak, but in the midst of that, God intercedes for us. The Holy Spirit prays for us, not just people in the Bible. Take time to think about the times the Holy Spirit prayed for you. That is just awesome to think about.
