The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Today’s Scripture & Insight: John 14:26

The older I become the more I realize that I need the Lord’s guidance. Maybe you feel the same way. There have been times in my life where I made decisions without consulting the Lord. Usually those types of decisions were selfish and self-serving.

The good news is that we don’t have to wander through life making one poor decision after another. If we truly seek the Lord, the Holy Spirit will guide us. John 14:26 says, “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” [1]

In our story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch, the Holy Spirit gave Philip guidance on how to minister to another person. The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” 30 Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah.[2] Acts 8:29-30.

Only through the guidance of the Holy Spirit was Philip able to accomplish God’s plan for him on that day. Do you need the Holy Spirit to guide you? Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you! The Holy Spirit is like a compass that lives inside of every believer in Jesus. The closer we draw to the Lord, the better we can hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit.
