The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Acts 7:25 — Verse of the Day for 07/25/2016

The world in which we live tells us to follow our dreams and that will lead you to fulfillment. More than one person has gone down that path, including myself for a time. The problem with that road is that is does not lead to fulfillment, but to emptiness and away from our real calling in life.

Moses had some understanding of God’s plan for his life but started on that journey before God gave him all the details. Moses understood he was going to rescue the Hebrew people who were in slavery and was puzzled why the people did not realize that.

23 “One day when Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his relatives, the people of Israel. 24 He saw an Egyptian mistreating an Israelite. So Moses came to the man’s defense and avenged him, killing the Egyptian. 25 Moses assumed his fellow Israelites would realize that God had sent him to rescue them, but they didn’t. [1] Acts 7:23-25.

God often gives His plan for our lives just one part at a time. If the Lord gave us too much detail all at once it would overwhelm us. God usually gives us His plan over a period of time. This means we need to keep seeking Him for more. I believe He does this to train us to seek His face and develop patience. As we pray to the Lord, He will reveal more to us in His timing. Earlier parts of God’s plan need to be digested, prayed over and compared to Scripture. Does what we hear as God’s plan match up with God’s word? God’s plan would not be for a person to divorce their spouse and marry someone else because they are more interesting. One could easily realize that it does not match up with Scripture and that would not be God’s plan.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. [2]

Do you want wisdom for what God has planned in your life? James 1:5 says to ask Him! If you believe in His power to give you guidance, He will. Most of us have a tendency to try and figure things out on our own. Humble yourself and don’t stress about navigating the waters alone. Instead, ask the Lord for His help and He will provide you with guidance. God knows your heart, but we need to humble ourselves and ask Him.

We have to trust that God’s plan is the only option we should follow. Before God can reveal His plan to you, we must be committed to doing whatever it is He desires of you. We need to surrender our self to Him fully.

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. [3] Matthew 16:24.
