Rav Dror - Physical vs. Spiritual, The Battle for Your Soul, The ...

As I have grown in faith, I have come to the realization there is a battle for the souls of humankind. In Genesis chapter three we are introduced to our enemy satan who was battling for the souls of Adam and Eve. Satan was instrumental in leading Adam and Eve into sin. From that day forward there has been a great spiritual battle as the enemy works day and night to destroy humankind.

Amid this great battle, Jesus was sent into this world to save humankind. The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 4:“But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.”[1]

All our sins were poured out on Jesus as He hung on the cross. Jesus took the punishment we deserved. We could not save ourselves, but Jesus could save us because He was both God and man. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead. His victory was complete, and 40 days later He ascended into heaven. By Jesus’ death and resurrection our enemy satan was defeated!

Jesus made a way for us to be saved as He gave His life for us. John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[2]The Apostle Paul also writes in Romans 10:13“For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” [3] Wow! Our Lord is amazing.

In our story of Moses, we see the powers of God in direct conflict with the powers of darkness. God wins this battle as Aaron’s staff swallows the Egyptian staffs.  Exodus 7:Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Pharaoh will demand, ‘Show me a miracle.’ When he does this, say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down in front of Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent.’ ” 10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did what the Lord had commanded them. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent! 11 Then Pharaoh called in his own wise men and sorcerers, and these Egyptian magicians did the same thing with their magic. 12 They threw down their staffs, which also became serpents! But then Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Pharaoh’s heart, however, remained hard. He still refused to listen, just as the Lord had predicted. [4]

The good news is the Lord gives us the ability to stand firm in this spiritual battle when we rely on Him. The Apostle Paul gives us insight into this spiritual battle in Ephesians 6:10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.[5]
