Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

He fights for us! - tea with toni

Throughout the Scripture, the Lord reveals to us that He fights for us and intervenes in our lives. Let that thought sink in for a minute. In the invisible realm angels protect and fight for us. Hebrews 1:14 Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.[1]

In our story of Moses, we see the Lord fighting for the Hebrews as He destroys the Egyptian Army who pursued them. Exodus 14:29 But the people of Israel had walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, as the water stood up like a wall on both sides. 30 That is how the Lord rescued Israel from the hand of the Egyptians that day. And the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the seashore. 31 When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before him. They put their faith in the Lord and in his servant Moses. [2]

In the New Testament Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd. How does the Shepherd fight for his sheep? John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. 12 A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will abandon the sheep because they don’t belong to him and he isn’t their shepherd. And so the wolf attacks them and scatters the flock. 13 The hired hand runs away because he’s working only for the money and doesn’t really care about the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15 just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep.[3]
