The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Have you ever experienced God’s divine intervention? If you are a follower of Jesus, God has intervened. When the Lord prompts you to pray, that is divine intervention. When the Lord places you at the right time and the right place to help or encourage someone, that is divine intervention. I believe the Lord intervenes in our life on a daily basis, but we are not always aware of what God did or is doing.

Maybe you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, but as you read this devotion the Lord is stirring your heart to confess your sins and place your faith in Jesus. What you are experiencing is God’s divine intervention.

The Apostle Paul was going down the wrong road in a spiritual sense. He was persecuting followers of Jesus. He thought he was a faithful believer, but he was deceived. Without God’s intervention, Paul was headed for eternity in hell. Without God’s intervention in our life, we would also be headed for hell.

Acts 9:As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one! Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus.[1]

Paul would later write about God’s grace and divine intervention. 1 Timothy 1:13Even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. 14 Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus. [2]

What does God’s intervention tell us about Him? God goes to great lengths to rescue us including sending His own Son to die for our sins upon the cross. God is patient and kind like a good shepherd who goes after lost sheep. There is never anyone that is too far from God, or out of His reach.
