Your life is important to God! It was God’s idea to create you. God chose you! It was God’s idea to develop a plan for your life. It was God’s idea to send His Son Jesus into the world to die for your sins so you could be called to faith. Psalm 139 gives insight into how important you are to Him and how much He pays attention to you.
Psalm 139:13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. [1]
Was Abel Important to God?
What happens when a person’s life is taken like Abel’s was? Does God pay any attention? Is He aware of the problem? As our story unfolds, we see that God is well aware of what happened and deeply saddened by the death of Abel.
Genesis 4:8 One day Cain suggested to his brother, “Let’s go out into the fields.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him. 9 Afterward the Lord asked Cain, “Where is your brother? Where is Abel?” “I don’t know,” Cain responded. “Am I my brother’s guardian?” 10 But the Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground! [2] Abel was so important that his blood cried out from the ground, God heard, and did something about it.
Your Importance Caused God to Act
The love of Jesus is not just talk, but action. Jesus knew the only way we could be forgiven was for Him to die in our place. Your life is so important to the Lord that he paid the price on the cross for every sin we will ever commit. 1 Peter 2:24Jesus personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. When we come to faith, the Lord brings healing to us by forgiving our sins and setting us on a new path in life.
Your Life is Important to God.
He has a plan and something for you to do. He has something special that He wants you to accomplish. You have been put on this world for a purpose. God wants to use you to touch the lives of your friends and family with the good news of Jesus. Your life matters because God has a plan for you to do that only you can do. God has good plans for your life, so when you feel like your life doesn’t matter, realize that God says it does.
You are important. God puts a value on your life that is beyond description. He loves you more than you can ever comprehend. So, when you begin to feel like you don’t matter and want to give up, remind yourself that you matter to God.
