Have you ever been encouraged by the words of another person? Hopefully, we all have. The older I become the more I realize our words are powerful.
Words of encouragement can make an amazing difference in our life. Words of encouragement can propel us forward when we want to give up, lift us up when we have failed and are feeling sad, and change our attitude about a situation. Great teachers, leaders and parents use the power of words to make a difference in the lives of others.
Ephesians 4:29Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. [1]
Negative Words are also Powerful
Moses sent twelve spies into the promised land expecting them to bring back a positive report because the Lord was with them. Two of the twelve spies caught the vision of what God had for them, but their voices were drowned out by ten spies and their negative words.
Numbers 13:31 But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” 32 So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. 33 We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!” [2]
The negative words by the ten spies were so powerful they convinced the vast majority of the people they could not trust God and take the promised land. There negative words would be the root cause of the Israelites wandering 40 years in the desert. Think of the lives that were impacted by the negative words of just ten people.
Words of encouragement Make a Difference
Who would the Lord like you to encourage today? Pray and ask the Lord to give you divine encouragement appointments. You will be surprised how our words are powerful.
