Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Changing My Prayers Changed My Life - YMI

Prayer changes my life. From the time man was created God has given us the supernatural ability to communicate with Him. It does not make any difference where we are, and we are instantly connected to God and can speak to Him.

Technology has increased our ability to connect with each other. One of my friend’s sons was on a mission trip traveling down the Zambezi River in Africa. He decided to call his father on his cell phone. Instantly they were connected and carried out a conversation that would have been impossible just a few years ago. But humankind has always been able to connect with God and we don’t need a cellphone.

As We Pray, God has Time for Us

As you read this think about how many people the Lord is talking to through prayer. Think about all the prayer requests that are going up to God’s throne. God always knows the right response to each prayer. Sometimes the answer is no or wait. Many times, He answers our prayers in a way only God could.

Think about all the people that are interceding for the lives of others. One of the greatest ways to change our view of others is to begin to pray for them. When we pray for others, we see them in a different light. We begin to see them as God sees them and it can change our entire view of the situation.

Prayer Changed Cornelius

The Bible gives us amazing insight into the power of prayer. James 5:16bThe earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.[1] God was about to respond to Cornelius prayers in way he never would have imagined.

Acts 10:30 Cornelius replied, “Four days ago I was praying in my house about this same time, three o’clock in the afternoon. Suddenly, a man in dazzling clothes was standing in front of me. 31 He told me, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been noticed by God! 32 Now send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. He is staying in the home of Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.’ 33 So I sent for you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here, waiting before God to hear the message the Lord has given you.” [2]

Prayer can change you

True prayer requires effort on our part. As believers in Jesus, we need to rely on the Him to protect our prayer life from distractions and discouragements of this world. When we pray with Jesus as our guide, we can break free from defeats and shield ourselves from the arrows of the enemy. I believe there is not a problem, defeat, or difficulty that cannot be overcome through prayer.
