When God spiritually blinds our enemies, He is protecting us. I remember a local pastor talking about his daughter who had smuggled Bibles into a country where Bibles were illegal. As they were going through a check point and an officer investigated their vehicle. There were boxes of Bibles on the back seat, but the officer was spiritually blinded and did not see them.
This group had prayed for spiritual protection and sensed from the Lord it was okay to bring the shipment of Bibles into this country. The Lord answered their prayers. Think about the people who received these Bible. How many times had they asked the Lord for a Bible? Can you imagine the joy on their face when they received a Bible? Praise the Lord!
The Lord Blinded the Enemies of Elisha
Elisha and his servant were in deep trouble unless the Lord would intervene. Fortunately, Elisha relied on God and the power of prayer to overcome his enemies in a supernatural way. Only the Lord could receive the credit for this miracle.
2 Kings 6: 18 As the Aramean army advanced toward him, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, please make them blind.” So the Lord struck them with blindness as Elisha had asked. 19 Then Elisha went out and told them, “You have come the wrong way! This isn’t the right city! Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are looking for.” And he led them to the city of Samaria. 20 As soon as they had entered Samaria, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, now open their eyes and let them see.” So the Lord opened their eyes, and they discovered that they were in the middle of Samaria.[1]
Elisha’s prayer stopped the evil that the King of Aram wanted to Elisha and his servant. The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Cor. 4:18, “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” [2]
There is an unseen realm that is just as real as the one we live in. God calls us to rely on Him and that is exactly what Elisha did. Psalm 34:7 gives more insight into the Lord’s spiritual protection. 7 For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. [3]
The Lord Blinds our Enemies
God’s supernatural power of protection is far greater than any human effort as we pray in the mighty name of Jesus. We live in an ongoing spiritual battle, and we need the Lord to blind our enemies so that we can fulfill the plans the Lord has for our lives.
