The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Proverbs 20:24 | Proverbs 20 24, Proverbs 20, Proverbs

Have you ever needed God’s supernatural guidance? Fortunately, the Lord is in the business of giving us just that. James 1:If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.[1] In our story about Philip the Lord gave him supernatural guidance when he was not asking for any. The Lord not only gives wisdom when we ask, but also gives wisdom in divine intervention so we can fulfill the Lord’s plan for our life. Why does God do this? He does this because He has more for us, and He knows it takes His wisdom.

Acts 8:26 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. 29 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” [2]

God’s Plan for Philip Took Supernatural Guidance

Philip was enjoying a very successful ministry when the Lord said to take the desert road. Why take the desert road? Sometimes God’s plan for our lives seems just like that. We can’t see what God has ahead of us, but He can.  When we obey, the desert road often turns into green pastures in a spiritual sense.

I was a successful engineer and the Lord called me into ministry. To the world it was the Lord telling me to take the desert road. Years later I can safely say that God had a much better plan than I did. Everyone in our family has benefited from God’s divine wisdom of taking the desert road.

The Holy Spirit Will Give You Divine Guidance

The Lord loves to speak to His children, and He delights in giving divine guidance. Proverbs 20:24The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way? [3] Whether we have asked for wisdom, or the Lord intervenes with divine wisdom, the key is having an open heart. When we have an open heart to the guidance of the Holy Spirit the Lord can easily direct us.

Our willingness to follow the Lord’s guidance grows out of our relationship with the Him. As we give the Lord more control over our everyday lives, He speaks to us to guide us but also to convict us of sin. Colossians 1:10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. [4]
