The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

As you repent of your sins and believe, you will experience a transformed life. Jesus began His ministry with these crucial words. Mark 1:15 “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” [1]

Jesus began his ministry with the very words preached by John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Jesus. John 3:3Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven.[2] To repent means turning from our ways and following Jesus’ way. Because of our sinful condition, repentance is not just a one-and-done experience but ongoing. Is the Lord calling you to repentance today?

Transformation Due to Repentance and Faith

I was on a mission trip several years ago. One of the young men came because he liked a young lady on the trip. Whatever his motives were during the mission trip, He met Jesus during a worship service. God transformed his life as he repented of his sins and believed in the Lord Jesus.

What a celebration there must have been in heaven! Luke 15: In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! [3]

Genuine repentance is about changing your mind, moving away from thinking that leads to sin, and moving toward thinking that aligns with God’s word. Repentance causes us to learn from mistakes, so we’re less likely to repeat them in the future with God’s help.

Believe in Jesus

We all need to repent of our sins, but you may first need to take a step of faith. What is faith? Hebrews 11:1Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. [4] We can’t see God, but we can respond to the tug of the Holy Spirit who is calling us to faith. When the Lord calls you to faith, you have free will to receive Him or reject Him.

John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[5] This is God’s desire for you! Repent of your sins and believe; to hear more, listen here:
