Have you ever thought about the truth of God’s word? We read in Joshua 21:45, “Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.” [1]
God’s word is true, and God’s word in the Old Testament gives us many prophecies about the coming of the Messiah. Micah 5:2 is later quoted in Matthew 2:5-6 and says: “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.”[2]
Now look at the prophecy being fulfilled as written in Matthew 2:5-6.“In Bethlehem in Judea,” they said, “for this is what the prophet wrote: 6 ‘And you, O Bethlehem in the land of Judah, are not least among the ruling cities of Judah, for a ruler will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.’ ” [3]
What promises in God’s word has the Lord made to you?
- John 3:16 –For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[4]
- 1 John 1:9 – But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.[5]
- John 8:36 –So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.[6]
- Romans 10:9-10 –If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.[7]
What amazing promises the Lord has made to us! These promises will transform us in this lifetime and lead us to heaven itself. Wow! God is amazing. Take time to praise the Lord today for all the promises He has made to you!
