The Power of Prayer

The power of prayer continues to touch people’s lives in every nation as people come to the Lord. In Ephesians chapter six, Paul urges us to put on the whole armor of God to withstand enemy attacks. After discussing all the different aspects of spiritual armor, Paul tells us one more important thing in this cosmic battle: prayer. Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.[1]

In a spiritual sense, the most influential people on earth are not wealthy or world leaders but those who kneel in prayer to their Heavenly Father. Prayer is that particular communication the Lord has equipped every believer that creates an atmosphere for the presence of God.

Warfare Prayer

As revealed in Scripture, our enemy, the devil, hates our prayers and works to stop them. Daniel 10: 12 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. 13 But for twenty-one days, the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. [2]

The Lord gave Daniel a vision that had to do with his people, so he prayed for spiritual understanding. Daniel fasted and prayed for 21 days for an answer, unaware of what was going on in the spiritual realm until God revealed it to him. Prayer is the power that moves both heaven and earth as the Lord’s children cry out to Him. Our enemy strikes differently at different people and does not play fair, but we have a powerful weapon called prayer. Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. [3]

Persistent Prayer

It is easy to give up when we are tired, but the Lord calls us to keep going and persist with our prayers. Not a day goes by that the prayers of the saints have not made a difference in people’s lives. As we pray, we are the first ones that are changed. In our busy world, we can forget to pray if we don’t stay vigilant. As we pray deep and intimate prayers to the Lord, He draws us closer to Him. When we pray and receive answers, the Lord guides us through our spiritual journey transforming us into the people He wants us to be.
