Has God broken into your life? I know someone who experienced God breaking into their life during a terminal illness. He was far from God until the Lord broke into his dark world and drew him to Himself. The Lord showed him what was important in life during his illness.
In his illness, the Lord healed family relationships and transformed a once selfish man into a new creation full of love and hope. In a figurative sense, he was a lighthouse for the Lord as the Holy Spirit lived in him. Isaiah 64:8 And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand. [1]
Paul and Silas Praised the Lord
While Paul and Silas were praising God in their prison cell, something began to happen as they brought the light of Jesus into the darkness of the prison. As praises went up to God, it transformed the prison into a sanctuary filled with the Holy Spirit. Through the praises of Paul and Silas, the Lord began to change the hearts of the prisoners who listened intently.
Acts 16:25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. 26 Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off![2]
God broke in, and the spiritual invaded the physical. Suddenly, chains fell off the prisoners in the physical. The prisoners listened as Paul and Silas praised God, and their spiritual chains fell. The Lord was breaking into lives beyond Paul and Silas.
God Breaks into Lives in Many Scripture Stories
God broke into Noah’s life and asked him to build an ark. It was an unusual call since it had not rained up to that point. God broke into the life of Abram and called to leave his home and go where the Lord would direct him. Abram was obedient and became the father of the Hebrew nation.
Although these are just a few stories where God breaks into people’s lives, they are examples of God’s work. God is the one who initiates breakthroughs. It was God’s idea to call Noah, not him. What an amazing God we have who has plans for our life. Many times, God’s plan requires Him to break into our lives.
