Inviting Jesus into Your Life

Inviting Jesus into your life is a significant step. This can only happen as we understand the importance of our ongoing relationship with Him. James 4:8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you.[1] As we invite Jesus into our lives, our relationship grows, and we have a greater awareness of our need for Him.

Relationships are important to the Lord; He wants to be involved in our lives in good times and challenging times. The importance of Jesus’ relationships with others is evident when Jesus attended a wedding. John 2:1The next day, there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration.[2]

Jesus was not a wedding crasher; He came to their wedding because He was invited and does the same in our lives. As the wedding story unfolds, the couple runs out of wine, but through a miracle, Jesus changes jars of water into wine. Running out of wine would have been shameful for the couple, and the problem was avoided by inviting Jesus into their life. When we invite Jesus into every aspect of our lives, we can avoid much of the pain in our lives. It is a significant mistake in our relationship with the Lord when we limit God’s access to our lives.

Weddings are About Relationships

As Jesus attended the weddinging Cana, a young couple was about to begin their life together. A marriage is all about a relationship. It takes time and commitment to deepen a relationship. Scripture compares our relationship with Jesus to a marriage. We are the bride, and He is the groom. Inviting Jesus into every part of our life deepens our relationship with Him and transforms our lives.

When a husband and wife grow distant, it is because they don’t let the other person into their lives, and we can do the same with Jesus. We have struggles, and a loving spouse will be there for us. As we struggle through life, Jesus is always there to help us overcome the hurts and disappointments of life. He is also there to guide and direct our lives so we can be fruitful in the Kingdom. Humans may break their vows, but our Lord never will because He is faithful.

The Lord Knows All About You

Unlike a spouse, the Lord knows all about you. Our Savior loves us and desires to help us and guide us so we can fulfill the plans He has for us. The Lord allows us free will, and we can shut Him out of our lives or choose to walk with Him daily. If we don’t want Jesus, He will not knock down the door.

Instead, He invites us, through His love, to have fellowship with Him. To have fellowship with Jesus is to share everything. Every area we let Jesus into will be blessed, so we don’t want to leave one area out that the Lord could transform. Is the Lord calling you to open your life to Him more significantly today?
