Proclaiming What God Has Done

Proclaiming what God has done is a beautiful way to praise the Lord and spread the good news of Jesus. When the Holy Spirit came at the feast of Pentecost, God did something He had not done before. Acts 2:And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. [1] During the feast of Pentecost, pilgrims from distant lands filled Jerusalem to worship the Lord. Acts 2:11And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done! [2]

On this day, God wanted people to focus on Him and remember all He had done. God used Pentecost to turn their attention to Him versus the cares of this world. God was doing something new, and the people were experiencing it firsthand. You can only imagine the effect of hearing the beautiful things God had done on those who were listening!

Jesus Died for Our Sins

As the people gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost, the Lord sent His Holy Spirit to transform them. Peter and others began to boldly proclaim the Gospel, while others came to place their faith in Jesus when they heard the word. For many, this was the first time they heard that Jesus was the Messiah who died for their sins on the cross. At the time of Jesus’ death and resurrection, many people did not understand.

As the Holy Spirit worked in people’s hearts, the Lord enabled them to believe as they heard the good news of Jesus proclaimed. Acts 2:37 Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then, you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.[3] God’s word had such a powerful effect on people that three thousand people came to faith as they turned to Jesus in faith.

Proclaiming What God Has Done in Your Life

No one can tell your story but you. No one can tell my story but me. The most important story we must tell is what our Savior has done in our lives. 1 Peter 3:15 And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.[4] Personal testimonies are powerful because they tell your story of how the Lord transformed your heart.

A friend was a police officer acting as a jailer in a county prison. He had heard about Jesus as a young man but didn’t have a relationship with Him. He told me he was overseeing the jail but was also a prisoner. When my friend asked Jesus to be His Lord and Savior, Jesus set his heart free. His life would never be the same. How has the Lord changed you? Ask the Lord in prayer to help you tell others about the Good News of Jesus in your life.
