Chosen for a Purpose

You are chosen for a purpose! Sometimes, we think the Lord chooses only those significant in God’s Kingdom, like Abraham, David, or Paul, but not ordinary people like me. God chose you for a purpose only He can reveal as you follow Him. God revealed the purpose He had for Abram. Genesis 12:I will make you into a great nation. will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.[1]

God revealed His true purpose as Abram listened to the Lord’s voice. If I were Abram, the part about being a blessing to others would have intrigued me. Perhaps Abram wondered how he could be a blessing to others.

God Has Chosen You!

When we understand that God has chosen us, it is humbling and inspiring. God reminds us of our unique role in creation. The Lord chose you and created you with unique gifts to make a difference. Being chosen means we have a divine assignment to fulfill in this lifetime. As we let the Lord unfold His blueprint for our lives, He brings meaning and direction.

Ephesians 1:Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. [2]

Some people search their entire lives to find meaning and purpose. Many people refuse to surrender to God because they think they have a better plan. Jesus tells us otherwise. Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. [3] Paul encouraged others not to take the fact of being chosen by God for granted. . Ephesians 4:1Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.[4]

God Chooses Us Despite Our Weakness

God chooses people like us who seem too weak and unqualified in the eyes of the world. Paul tells us we are not chosen based on human standards because God’s strength overcomes our weaknesses. The Lord chooses us as an act of His undeserved love that allows His power to shine through our limitations. 2 Corinthians 12:9b So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.[5]

Awareness of our weaknesses reveals our need to depend on God for guidance. Being chosen by God also means there is work for us to do in our lifetime. God has chosen you to be His arms, feet, and mouthpiece, showing others his love, kindness, and faith in action. To be chosen is a gift to reflect God’s goodness.
