The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Today’s Scripture & Insight:

Is God calling you today? Is He calling you to go down a different path? Is He calling you into a closer relationship with Him? Is He calling you to encourage you along your spiritual journey? Is He calling you to tell you that He loves you? Is He calling to tell you that He will never leave you? What is Lord speaking about to you right now?

In our story of the Lost Son from Luke 15, the Lost Son made many bad decisions and found himself without friends or food. Then something happened. God called. Yes, God did call. He called him to come home like a loving parent. From Luke 15:18-20 we pick up our story.  18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.” ’ 20 “So he returned home to his father.[1]

The young man humbled himself before God because he was responding to the work of the Holy Spirit in his heart. The Holy Spirit was calling him to turn from his sin and turn back to his heavenly Father.

The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 1:18 –  I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[2]

It is a powerful experience in our life when we respond to God’s calling. His call is tailored just for you and what you need today. Praise the Lord, the Divine Intruder is calling you as you read this devotion.
