As our story unfolds, the Lord gives Elisha and the other prophets supernatural insight. They all know that God is going to take Elijah to heaven.
2 Kings 2:1When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were traveling from Gilgal. 2 And Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, for the Lord has told me to go to Bethel.” But Elisha replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you!” So they went down together to Bethel. 3 The group of prophets from Bethel came to Elisha and asked him, “Did you know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today?” “Of course I know,” Elisha answered. “But be quiet about it.”
What about today? Does the Lord still give supernatural insight? Yes, He does. The New Testament tells us about the importance of asking for insight. James 1:5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
We live in an uncertain and fast paced world and there is rarely a week that goes by that we don’t need the Lord’s insight. As we grow in our communication and relationship with the Lord we begin to depend on his guidance and peace that gives as he directs our path.
How about you? Where in your life do you need to ask for wisdom from a generous God who desires to give it? The Lord is waiting to hear your prayer!
