Have you ever been in a situation where there seemed to be an impossible barrier? Remember, the Lord removes barriers. Your barrier may be an illness, a desire for a child, a marriage that is on the rocks, or an addiction that you can’t overcome. As well as that, there are times when there seem to barrier to salvation itself. Even the disciples asked Jesus who could be saved. Matt. 19:26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” [1]
The Stone Barrier
Mary Magdalene went to the tomb of Jesus to anoint his body. Luke 24:10 tells us there were three women who went to the tomb to apply spices to the body of Jesus. There was a sealed stone barrier at the entrance to the tomb. Didn’t they think ahead? Who would roll the stone away? Yet, when they arrived the stone was rolled away. The Lord removes barriers.
The barriers in our lives may not be made of stone but may seem as impossible to move. Many times, these barriers close our hearts and minds to the light of Jesus Christ. Our enemy wants us to think there is no way out. We may not know how, but we want the barrier removed.
Nothing is Impossible with God
God and His ability to do the impossible is a common theme in the Bible. Maybe you are in a situation right now that only God can fix, only God can overcome. God often allows barriers in our life, so we must look to Him, which is very humbling. As a result, I become teachable and learn to depend on God. As you look up to God in faith, you will begin to see light, not darkness. It is God who can blow the barrier up, just as that stone was rolled away that first Resurrection morning.
The resurrection of Jesus is all about removing stones. When those barriers disappear, hope emerges from the other side and there is new life in Christ. Whether you are looking for a way in or a way out, Jesus says, John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.[2] Jesus’ death and resurrection opened the door to new life. The barriers that imprison us or block our path have no power to destroy us. There is only One who can roll away your stone and bring joy, new life, and freedom and that is Jesus.
