The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Did you know the Lord wants to use you to save others from going to hell? You might not feel worthy of such a task. Perhaps you think that this task is too large.  Neither is true. It is God’s desire to work through ordinary people like you to save other people. This is so important that the “Great Commission” was the last conversation Jesus had with His disciples before He ascended to heaven.

Matthew 28: 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [1]

The Lord Worked Through Rahab to Save her Family

God drew Rahab to faith and not only saved her but used her to save her entire family. Hebrews 11:31 It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.[2]

Joshua 6: 22 Meanwhile, Joshua said to the two spies, “Keep your promise. Go to the prostitute’s house and bring her out, along with all her family.” 23 The men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, mother, brothers, and all the other relatives who were with her. They moved her whole family to a safe place near the camp of Israel. [3]

The Lord Wants to Use You

When you find yourself in conversation with a friend, and the passage you read recently or heard in church comes in your mind, it’s not a coincidence. It’s the Holy Spirit doing exactly what Jesus said He would do. John 14:26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

God speaks to us in many ways, including through other believers. The verse or verses you recall in a moment might be God’s way of speaking to someone through you. He may do this so they can be saved! God doesn’t require us to complete a class on evangelism before He is ready to use us. He only requires a willing and obedient heart.

Whether you’ve been a believer in Jesus a few months or since you were a child, the Lord is ready to speak to you and through you. Wow! That is amazing when you think about it. Pray and ask the Lord to speak through you to your circle of friends. Be willing to have conversations about placing their faith in Jesus as their Savior. Ask Him to renew your desire for His Word each day and to grow your love for His Word and for others.
