“Lord, use me” is a common prayer of mine. Do you want to be used by God to do amazing things in His Kingdom? I believe that each person wants to make an impact in the world. We seem to have a built-in desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
Some seek to accomplish this in worldly ways and find that pursuit empty. Perhaps this is the road you have traveled and now the Lord is redirecting you to help build His Kingdom. Solomon the son of King David wrote about the emptiness of filling your life with worldly desires. Ecclesiastes 2:11 But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere. [1]
Nehemiah Knew True Fulfillment was Being Used by God
Nehemiah received the bad news of the broken walls and city gates destroyed by fire. He was so concerned about the vulnerable people in Jerusalem that he goes to the Lord in prayer. He then confesses his sins and the sins of the people and calls on the Lord to remember them if they turn to Him.
Nehemiah 1:9 But if you return to me (the Lord) and obey my commands and live by them, then even if you are exiled to the ends of the earth, I will bring you back to the place I have chosen for my name to be honored.’ [2]
After waiting several months on the Lord’s timing, Nehemiah went to the King with a large request. Nehemiah 2:5“If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.” [3]
The Lord answered Nehemiah’s prayer. The King was sent Nehemiah to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls. The Lord would use Nehemiah to rebuild the walls. which was an amazing task and gift from the Lord. Remember Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the King not a builder in the ancient world.
The Lord Wants to Use You to Build His Kingdom
Make yourself available to God so that He can use you. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom, will use the gifts He has given us to do things we never thought were possible. Nehemiah helped restore the walls of Jerusalem.
Ephesians 2:10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [4] Did you realize God’s plan for your life is all about building His Kingdom and carrying out His plans? Wow, God has amazing plans for you!
