In many ways, Jesus goes ahead of us during our lives to bless us and help us fulfill the great plans He has for us. Before you were born, the Lord sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for our sins. Galatians 4:4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.[1]
Before you took one breath, the Lord made a way through His Son Jesus for you to become a person of faith and have eternal life. As we begin our lives, the Holy Spirit takes action to draw us to faith. As people, we have free will to follow the calling of the Holy Spirit and place our faith in Jesus or go our own way.
Jesus Went Before the Disciples into Galilee
After Jesus’ resurrection, He again wanted to connect with His disciples. He went before them into Galilee just as He said He would. Mark 16:5 When the women entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, 6 but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. 7 Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” [2]
All the disciples, except John, had deserted Jesus when He hung on the cross. Yet, He was inviting them once again to meet with Him. There are times in life when we fail, but the Lord will never let us down and will continue to go before us in our life. Praise the Lord!
The Lord Goes Before Us Because He Loves Us
The Lord going before us gives us insight into His character and love for us. As a shepherd leads sheep, so the Lord leads us. This requires Him to go before us. Where is the Lord going before you today? If you are struggling in life, know the Lord has gone before you.
The Lord’s angels are also busy ministering to you in unaware ways. Hebrews 1:14 Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. [3] As the Lord goes before us, He is constantly aware of where you are in life as He prepares the soil around you. He is the Good Shepherd and a faithful gardener who continually cares for you so you can be about His plans during your life.
