The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The Lord is faithful in my trials which is a blessing. You may have endured hardship and, during the trial or afterward, realized how faithful the Lord is. When we know that God is with us, it is a great faith booster and sustains us in the worst of times.

My grandfather was in the hospital dying when he said to my mother, “Who are those nice young men sitting on my bed?” He was a faithful believer and saw angels sitting on his bed that no one else could see. The Lord has divinely inserted His wisdom into every season of our lives. This happens even in those seasons of difficulty or in facing our death. We can be bitter about these times in our lives or trust God has a plan and trust His faithfulness to be the joy of our life.

The Lord is Faithful to Joseph in his Trials

Joseph had been sold into slavery by his brothers and was taken to Egypt. While working for Potiphar, an Egyptian official, he was falsely accused of rape and imprisoned. Although Joseph was in prison, God was at work around him and in his life. Think how Joseph’s life would have been different if the Lord was not with him. How different is your life because the Lord is with you?

Genesis39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. 23 The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.[1]

The Lord is Faithful to You

Scripture repeatedly tells of the Lord’s faithfulness. Deuteronomy 7:Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.[2] Because the Lord is faithful, I can feel secure no matter the situation I find myself in. The Lord is the good shepherd; we, like sheep, need someone to watch over us, guide us, and help us. My circumstance may not change, but knowing the Lord is with me gives me hope. The Lord will faithfully hear my prayers as I cry out to Him, and He answers them in the best way for me.

Psalm 37:3Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.[3] As I dwell on the Lord’s faithfulness and let that nourish my spirit, my faith and trust in Him grow. When I focus on good things, I keep my thoughts away from my circumstances which can be discouraging. When we place our faith and trust in Jesus, He gives us peace, joy, and comfort.
