The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The heart of God is to rescue, which gives insight into the very character of God. We had a guest speaker at our church years ago who told about how he and a friend were rescued in the Bearing Sea after their small aircraft crashed into the water. Against all odds, the Lord answered their prayers and saved them from sure death.

The Bible contains rescue stories; one of my favorites is Psalm 107. Some are lost in areas such as the desert, locked up in prions, near death, or lost at sea. In all these situations, God acts in powerful ways giving ways to rescue and bring restoration.

You may think your life is beyond rescue, but you are mistaken. The Lord guides people out of the deserts of life, breaks chains of addiction, speaks words of healing, and calms storms. There is no one beyond the reach of the Lord.

The Lord Rescued the Israelites

The Egyptians pursued the Israelites to the Red Sea, thinking they would easily win. In God’s mercy, He opened the Red Sea for His people to walk across on dry ground. In their greed to defeat the Israelites, the Egyptian army pursued them through the Red Sea, only to have the sea collapse around them.

Exodus 14:30 That is how the Lord rescued Israel from the hand of the Egyptians that day. And the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the seashore. [1] God often makes way for us that seems impossible to us naturally, so we must trust the Lord. Psalm 107:19 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. [2]

God Will Rescue Us

God is always ready to rescue us from life’s trials and sufferings. Our loving God will never abandon us but walks through even the darkest valleys with us. In our most desperate moments, we often feel a more significant measure of God’s love and assurance. Remember that the Lord is good, loving, and merciful no matter what happens in life.

This life is compared to a vapor or a short-lived flower, but our true reward is salvation when we have placed our faith in Jesus. All the faithful saints will reside in heaven one day because we have been rescued. Think how the Lord has touched your life and saved you by placing you on the path of eternal life. Our God loves to take impossible circumstances to overcome and use them to reveal His love and power. He took down the walls of Jericho that seemed impossible to overcome. God will knock down barriers that stand between His plans for you. Remember, the God of the universe is in love with you, which is why He gave His life for you on the cross to rescue you.
