Looking forward with hope is the gift of every believer in Jesus, wherever you are on your life journey. An older friend was in the latter days of His life, and although his life in this world was ending, he was looking forward to the future of being in heaven.
Today, our world seems to be continually drifting away from God, but our hope in the Lord tells me that God is in control no matter what is happening. Not only is God in control, but evil’s reign is ending as we are one day closer to the second coming of Jesus. Hope allows us to see the light at the end of the tunnel or the rainbow after a storm.
Our Hope is in Jesus
Paul told Titus that our greatest hope is in Jesus. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, 13 while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. [1]
As believers in Jesus, we carry the message of hope wherever we go. We can be that hope in a spiritually dark place or those overwhelmed with this world’s condition. As believers in Jesus, we have a living hope because Jesus will never die, and neither will our hope.
Unshakable Hope
When we place our hope in Jesus as people of faith, He gives us peace and joy even in the storms of life that batter our shores. Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. [2]
Hope gives us something to look forward to no matter how difficult the road we travel. Jesus is the unshakable hope that sustains believers in good times and bad times. Hebrews 6:19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.[3]
Today, you may be in a great storm, and Jesus wants you to know He is here for you, loves you, and wants you to depend on Him. He is truly the anchor of our souls. When our anchor is Jesus, we can face impossible challenges in His strength. If you are struggling, take the hand of Jesus and let Him be your anchor in the storm that gives you unshakable hope.
