The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The blessings of walking with God result in a close relationship with Him. Genesis chapter six introduces us to Noah, a righteous man despite the environment in which he lived. Genesis 6:9Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God.[1] As Noah walked with God, he experienced his guidance, wisdom, and favor, which saved his family and all his descendants from the flood.

The earth was filled with such violence that the Lord decided to wipe out humanity, but Noah was different. To be like Noah and walk with God requires prioritizing time with Him. When I walk close to God, I can better hear His voice, and I am never far from where He wants me to be.

Psalm 16:11You (God) make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. [2] This is the kind of relationship the Lord wants to have with us so we can fulfill all the Lord has for us.

Walking With God is Life Changing

As Noah walked with God, he had no idea the Lord would call on him to build an ark to save his family and the line of the Messiah. As we walk with God, He unfolds plans for our lives that only He could imagine. Learning to walk with God is not just something we learn in a day but a lifelong process of a growing friendship with Him. The Lord shapes and molds us as we walk along our faith journey because our friendship constantly evolves. In many ways, we are like clay on the potter’s wheel, as God makes us into a useful vessel.

When we take time to be in God’s word, worship, praise Him, and pray, we walk with Him. As we walk together, the Lord often speaks to us through the Word and the Holy Spirit to fulfill the plans He has for us. A prompt from the Spirit to forgive someone, pray for another, encourage someone, and demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit show God at work in our lives.

Sometimes in our lives, because of our sins, we stop walking with the Lord as we should. But He comes and prompts us to get out of our slumber. Other times, our walk is renewed out of desperation as He calls us back to Himself.

Walking With God On the Narrow Road

As we walk with God, He takes us along a narrow road, which is difficult and takes personal sacrifice. Committing to the narrow road may result in persecution or giving up things the world tells us are essential. When the Jewish council had the Apostles beaten, they rejoiced because they were counted as worthy to suffer for Christ. Acts 5: 41 The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.[3]

To walk with God gives us a Christ-like perspective where our joy and peace far outweigh the cost of being followers of Jesus. To learn more about the blessings of walking with God, listen here:
