The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Jonah 3:1-2

Does the Lord still speak to people in the year 2019, or was that just back in Bible days? Good question! In our story about Jonah it says, “Then the Lordspoke to Jonah a second time: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.” Jonah 3:1-2.[1]

But wasn’t Jonah a prophet of God? Yes, but what about me? I am just an ordinary person.

Our enemy satan would like to trick and scheme against to make us believe that God doesn’t speak to us today. God speaks to us each time we read or listen to his word. It says in Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” [2]Something supernatural happens when we hear or listen to the word of God. God’s word is so powerful it penetrates even hardened hearts who were once far from God. When we hear the word of God it is like God speaking himself just to you!

God also speaks through the work of the Holy Spirit who impresses thoughts on our heart. Paul writes in Romans 8:14, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” [3]

Do you desire to hear the Lord speak to you? Take time to open his Holy Scriptures and ask the Lord to open your ears to hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. As you read through the word you will be amazed how the Lord will speak to you in a way you may have never experienced before.
