Today’s Scripture & Insight: Hebrews 13:16

The idea that God wants to use you to make a difference in the world is an amazing thought. While we may not think we are worthy of making a difference, that is not true. Think about the people in your life that made a significant difference in your life at just the right time.

In our story of Gideon in Judges chapter six,God wanted to used Gideon to make a difference in the lives of his people. 14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” 15 “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” 16 The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.” [1] Judges 6:14-16.

As people we often think we are tough, but in all reality, we are more like eggshells. We are easily cracked and broken by the world in which we live. Never underestimate listening to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit maybe prompting you to encourage someone. The Spirit may want you to call someone to let them know you are praying for them. More than one person was saved because they responded to a prompt by the Spirit. Many times they didn’t even know that person was in deep despair. You maybe the lifeline and not even realize it. As you read this, the Lord may be prompting you to connect with someone. The Lord wants to use you to make a difference.

I love these words form Hebrews 13:16 – And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. [2]
