Ps. 56: 13 For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.[1]

David had run from one danger to another. He looked to God for help. We can get insight into David’s heart by reading a song he wrote at this time, Psalm 56.

David needs to escape from the Philistines but is under constant watch. What will he do? God gives him the insight to act like he is insane. 1 Samuel 21: 13 So he (David) pretended to be insane, scratching on doors and drooling down his beard. 14 Finally, King Achish said to his men, “Must you bring me a madman? 15 We already have enough of them around here! Why should I let someone like this be my guest?”[2]

David’s play acting allows him to escape the king. God’s plan worked. In these fearful times, trust God to work behind the scenes. He can work in surprising ways and give us unique ideas to deal with situation that is new to all of us. Look for God to work in unexpected ways during these trying times and don’t forget to praise Him for it.
