The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

December 5, 2014 - Bible verse of the day - Romans 1:20 ...

The Lord shows who He is through signs and wonders throughout Scriptures. Why is this so important? The Lord wants all of us to come to know Him as our Lord and Savior and to follow Him.

The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 1:20, “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” [1]

In our story of Moses, the Lord was going to show miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt. These signs were to be a sign not only to the Pharaoh, but also to the other Egyptians and Hebrews as well. All the people could observe the signs in creation, but the Lord, in His mercy, was going to give special signs and wonders to people’s attention.

Exodus 7:1Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pay close attention to this. I will make you seem like God to Pharaoh, and your brother, Aaron, will be your prophet. Tell Aaron everything I command you, and Aaron must command Pharaoh to let the people of Israel leave his country. But I will make Pharaoh’s heart stubborn so I can multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.[2]

Who did these signs and wonders affect? The leaders of the Hebrews realized that Moses was their leader through them. But it also affected the Egyptians to the point that some of them would leave Egypt with the Hebrews. Exodus 12:38, A rabble of non-Israelites went with them, along with great flocks and herds of livestock.[3]

What signs and wonders have you observed in your lifetime? How has just looking at the stars in the evening sky shown you the majesty of the Lord?

When Jesus rose from the dead it was the greatest sign ever given to humankind. Have you taken the step of faith by placing your faith in Jesus as your Savior? If not, the Lord is calling you today to do so. If you have, give praise to God who has rescued you from sin.
