The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Henry B. Eyring Quote: “The Lord protects, guides, and watches ...

It is a natural instinct for parents to protect their children. Our Lord is the model of protecting His children. Who are the children of God? The Lord tells us in John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. [1]

God protects us through the work of angels. Hebrews 1:14 Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. [2]  There is an ongoing battle in the unseen realm and angels are at work protecting us 24/7. They are there even when we are not aware of it.

The Lord protects His children by encouraging them along their spiritual journey. Psalm 23:Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. [3]

The Lord tells us He is always with us. Matt. 28:20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”[4]

The Lord protects His children even in death, as we read in John 3:16. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.[5]

Have you ever stopped to contemplate how much the Lord protects you? As we open God’s Word, it is full of stories and verses about God’s supernatural protection. We see the Lord protecting His children in the story of Moses.

Exodus 12:11 “These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the Lord’s Passover. 12 On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord! 13 But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt. [6]

Today give thanks for the Lord’s protection and how He has supernaturally called you to faith. The blood of Jesus covers your sins.

If you have not invited Jesus into your heart as your Savior take time today in prayer.

Father, it is written in Your Word that if I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that You have raised Him from the dead, I will be saved. Therefore, Father, I confess that Jesus is my Lord. I make Him Lord of my life right now. I believe in my heart that that You raised Jesus from the dead. I thank You for forgiving me all my sin. Jesus is my Lord, and I am a new creation. Old things have passed away; now all things become new in Jesus’ name. Amen.
