The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The Hebrew people were backed up against the Red Sea with the Egyptian Army right behind them. It looked like there was no escape and they cried out to the Lord to help them. The Lord would answer their prayer and show them another miracle as He opened the Red Sea. This enabled them to walk through the middle of the sea on dry land.

Exodus 14:21 Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. 22 So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! [1]

The Lord would create a pathway so they could escape death. On Good Friday almost 2000 years ago Jesus faithfully walked to the cross knowing that all of our sins were going to be poured out upon Him. He would make a path for us so we could be forgiven through what He did on the cross. Jesus has created the pathway for each person to go to heaven; we only need place our faith in Jesus as our Savior and walk down that path.

Jesus also calls himself the door or gate, which is another example of a pathway.  John 10:so he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. 10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. [2]

Other Bible verses about doors or pathways in the Scriptures.

  • Revelation 3:7-8“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open: “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.[3]
  • 2 Cor. 2:12 – When I (The Apostle Paul) came to the city of Troas to preach the Good News of Christ, the Lord opened a door of opportunity for me. [4]
  • Isaiah 45:1 – This is what the Lord says to Cyrus, his anointed one, whose right hand he will empower. Before him, mighty kings will be paralyzed with fear. Their fortress gates will be opened, never to shut again. [5]

Take time to thank the Lord for the pathways or doors He has opened in your life, especially the gift of salvation. If you have not yet taken that step of faith, today is the day the still small voice of the Holy Spirit is speaking to you to take that step.

2 Cor. 6:12 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. [6]
