The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The joy of faithful accountability is the Lord’s desire for every believer. In the parable of the three servants, the Lord describes two faithful servants who used their entrusted resources to increase the master’s wealth. Upon returning from a long absence, the master praises them. Matthew 25:23 Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together![1]

Every Christian looks forward to hearing these words from Jesus in heaven, which we can do by surrendering our will to His. We all need goals, and as believers, concentrating on being faithful to what the Lord has entrusted to us brings us joy. When we look at accountability through that lens, it changes our perspective.

Accountability Helps Me Depend on God

There is something about accountability that brings out the best in us. The idea of accountability tells us that what we are doing is important. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. [2]

Accountability provides the support and encouragement essential for maintaining focus on Christ, particularly during difficult times. It creates a safe space to be honest about our struggles and disciplines in daily life. When we are accountable to others, we walk alongside them, enabling them to share wisdom, correction, and prayer. Much like another piece of iron purifies iron, divine relationships shape us. True accountability demands vulnerability and trust, fostering growth in the process.

Accountability goes beyond judgment and criticism; it encompasses grace and love. Just as Jesus walked with his disciples patiently and honestly, He calls us to support one another in the same way. Our primary aim should always be to uplift and encourage each other.

Accountability Helps Me Grow in Faith

Finding joy in being accountable to God strengthens my faith. As my relationship with Him deepens, I become more aware of His preferences and aversions. It also sharpens my heart, helping me listen for His still, small voice as He guides me. As I walk down the path of accountability before the Lord over time, He changes me like a sculptor. Accountability helps develop faith patterns I may never have had before or that I was not interested in.

God does not mean accountability to be drudgery; rather, it is meant to remind us of the importance of the race we are running. Hebrews 12:2Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.[3] Where can you find the joy of faithful accountability? To learn more, listen here:
