After Samuel was called, God still revealed Himself to Samuel. 1 Samuel 3:21“The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh and gave messages to Samuel there at the Tabernacle.”[1]
What about today? Does the Lord still reveal Himself to us? The answer is a resounding, YES! When God first makes Himself known to Samuel, it is through an audible voice. But God may speak in many ways:
Why does God reveal Himself to us? God reveals Himself to us because He is a God of mercy and grace who wants each person to be saved. God continues to communicate His amazing plan for each of us. First to call us to faith, and then to journey in faith. Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [2]
How is God speaking to you today? It may be in some of the ways listed above. But the main way the Lord reveals Himself to us is through His word. When we begin to read His Word, God begins to change our heart. Is the Lord prompting you to open up His Bible? Don’t be surprised as the Lord will build your faith and give you insight and understanding. He promises in Jeremiah 29:13 –If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.[3]
