The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Have you ever wondered about God’s purpose for your life? Why was I born at this time and into these circumstances? Does God have a plan for me or is that for just certain people? If you thought about these questions you are not alone.

During the reign of Queen Esther, there was an evil plan to kill all the Jews in the Medo-Persian Empire. Queen Esther was also a Jew and was in the perfect place to have an influence with the King to save her people. We can see the hand of God in this story as He allows her to be Queen. Would she go before the King to intercede for her people? Esther was fearful to go before the King without being asked into his presence because that could result in her death. Her uncle told her, Esther 4: 14”If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” [1]

This verse is a powerful reminder that all of us are here for “such a time as this.” It was not by chance that Esther was Queen at this critical time in her life to help the Jewish people. It is not by chance that you are here at this time on the earth where the Lord has placed you. The Lord tells us in Psalm 139:16“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. [2] In eternity the Lord thought of you and determined every detail about you. If the Lord was an artist, you are one of his masterpieces. Every day of your life has been laid out. What does this tell us about God? He is extremely interested in you and has a plan for your life that only He can unfold.

God still has a plan for each of us. 1 Timothy 1:For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. [3] Salvation is a gift and the Lord saved you to do specific things in the Kingdom of God, which He planned long ago.

How do I find out about these plans the Lord has for me? God does not make it difficult for me to follow His plan for my life. All I need to do is ask in prayer and seek Him with all of my heart. God does not lay out his plan for me like I have a search light, but more like I am walking with a lamp. God wants me to seek Him daily which helps build our relationship. When I keep coming back to God each day, I don’t get overwhelmed, because each day is bite sized. God knows if I knew too much I would be overwhelmed.  Matthew 7:7“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. [4]
