The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Waking up with gratitude. – Life Saving Prayers

Our family was visiting the World War I museum in Kansas City and watched the opening video. The uncertain times detailed in the video leading up to the war sounded strangely familiar. There was unrest surrounding the major powers of the world, which made for uncertain times. In today’s world we live in very uncertain times and we seem to be in uncharted waters. There appears to be a great battle going on in the spiritual realm that is manifesting itself in the physical. Covid 19 virus along with ongoing political problems throughout the world has created great instability.

But in the midst of this, there is always hope.

Psalm 18:2The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. [1] As Jesus carried his cross there were women who were weeping for Him. Then Jesus took time to tell them of the uncertain future that was just ahead of them. Luke 23:27 A large crowd trailed behind, including many grief-stricken women. 28 But Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the days are coming when they will say, ‘Fortunate indeed are the women who are childless, the wombs that have not borne a child and the breasts that have never nursed.’ 30 People will beg the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and plead with the hills, ‘Bury us.31 For if these things are done when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?” [2]

Why would Jesus take time to tell them about what was coming?

Warnings help us to prepare. We are forced to turn to prayer when we can’t control what is coming. It is then that we are willing to rely on God more than ever before. Warnings force us to focus on the important things in life and rid ourselves of the extraneous.  Warnings give us time to repent, to turn from our sin and turn toward God. Then the Lord is able to mold us to help others.

We are currently living in similar times that call for similar actions. If you began to take the steps outlined above, how would that change your life? How would that change those around you? Does this sound too hard? Remember the words of the Apostle Paul from Philippians 4:13For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.[3] The Lord wants to use you to be a light in the midst of darkness.
