There is hope in the Resurrection of Christ and I have always loved celebrating it. I love the music we sing in church because it is filled with hope and praise to God. The story of the resurrection for any age is inspiring and life changing.
When Jesus was crucified His followers were sad and felt their world had been turned upside down. Although Jesus told them several times He would die and be raised to life they did not grasp what He said. When the disciples saw Jesus for the first time after His resurrection their sad hearts turned joyful. Their world had again been turned upside down, but this time for the good. Jesus had conquered death and the grave.
Hope of the Resurrection Gave Believers an Eternal Perspective
Hebrews eleven tells us that many believers stepped out in faith during great adversity because they knew there was a life beyond this one. They had placed their faith in God and endured many things the world would put them through.
Hebrews 11:35But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection. 36 Some were jeered at, and their backs were cut open with whips. Others were chained in prisons.
They could only look forward to the Messiah; we are able to know Jesus, our Messiah.
Jesus our Hope
The hope in resurrection of Christ not only affects those being persecuted for their faith, but also all believers who endure a crisis. Sometimes it is death. My grandfather grieved over the loss of my grandmother, but he did not grieve without hope. Grandma was a faithful believer in Jesus, and he knew she was in heaven with the Lord. My father died of cancer. Despite the deterioration of his body was still a joyful person because his hope was in Jesus and the resurrection.
Because He Lives
I have always loved this song because it tells us where our real hope is. Here are the lyrics, may they be uplifting and allow you to meditate on the hope you have in the resurrection of Jesus.
God sent His son, they called Him Jesus / He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died to buy my pardon /An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow / Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future /And life is worth the living, just because He lives
