The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Psalm 121:8 — Verse of the Day for 04/27/2013

What comes to your mind when you think of a parent watching over their child? What I think about is love, concern, caring, and protection. Jesus, our Savior, calls Himself the Good Shepherd and we are the sheep of His pasture. A shepherd guarding his sheep has many of the same attributes as a parent watching over a child. Like sheep, people both young and old need someone to care, love, and protect them. We can be thankful the Lord watches over us no matter how young or old we are.

Psalm 121:8The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. [1]

The Lord Watches over the Israelites

As the Israelites entered the promised land some people thought God paid no attention to their sinful actions. But God sees everything we do and even knows what we think. Our Lord is the Good Shepherd, and He watches us not only to protect us, but also to correct us.

Joshua 7:10 But the Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why are you lying on your face like this? 11 Israel has sinned and broken my covenant! They have stolen some of the things that I commanded must be set apart for me. And they have not only stolen them but have lied about it and hidden the things among their own belongings. 12 That is why the Israelites are running from their enemies in defeat. For now Israel itself has been set apart for destruction. I will not remain with you any longer unless you destroy the things among you that were set apart for destruction. [2]

The Lord Watches over You

Life is a journey with God. And throughout the Bible, God has promised to see us through. When troubles come and they do, we must not think that God has forgotten or forsaken us. We must always remember that God never takes His eyes off us and this helps us as people feel secure.

The truth is whether we are aware of it or not, the Lord watches over us as we journey through life. He will keep His promises to see us through in life, in death, and in heaven. God will watch over us and can trust Him to do so.

Psalm 32:8The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. [3] To learn more about how the Lord  watches over us, listen here: https://podpoint.com/light-of-christ-church-podcast/seeking-the-lord-changes-my-life-joshua
