Have you ever thought about what it would be like to see into the spiritual realm? This may not be something you think about every day, but it is good to just ponder. A few people have God’s gift of seeing into the spiritual realm.
It would be amazing to see God’s angels at work, but the evil that you would see would be overwhelming. In God’s infinite wisdom He chooses to show people the invisible realm when it fits His plan for their lives. God always has the best for us and that includes not revealing things to us that would not be helpful in our spiritual development.
Elisha’s Servant was Briefly Enabled to See into the Spiritual Realm
Elisha’s servant was frightened, and God wanted him to realize he was safe. God was protecting him because in the natural it looked like he was in deep trouble. The King of Aram had their house surrounded, but God’s angels were protecting him in a way he did not realize until his eyes were opened.
2 Kings 6:16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. [1]
Elisha Watched Elijah go to the Spiritual Realm in a Whirlwind
Elisha was given the gift of seeing his mentor, Elijah, go to heaven. Think how this inspired and frightened Elisha at the same time. God’s gift of seeing into the spiritual realm makes us aware of His power. It also makes us aware that the spiritual realm is just as real although we can’t see it or touch it.
2 Kings 2:11 As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” And as they disappeared from sight, Elisha tore his clothes in distress. [2]
When Believers are Near Death, They May See into the Spiritual Realm
One of my friends was near death after an accident and saw two angels tending to him. God gives us glimpses into the spiritual realm that accomplish His purpose for that individual. God’s plans for our life are unique and so are our experiences in the realm of the supernatural. Be thankful that Jesus died for your sins so as believers we can all have the supernatural experience of going to heaven one day.
