The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

The Power Of Prayer

Has the power of prayer ever felt like a mystery to you? The good news is we don’t have to figure out how prayer works, but just trust the Lord that it does. One of the greatest gifts our heavenly Father has given us is prayer.

We can communicate to the Lord, day or night no matter where we are in the world. Our Lord is never too busy to hear His children pour out their heart to Him. Prayer is just a simple conversation between you and God. Jesus demonstrated this in His life here on earth. We are to go reverently to the Lord in prayer, but not to be fearful. The Lord loves to hear from His children.

James 5:16The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. [1] I was in a serious car accident and cried out to God. I sincerely believe the Lord answered that prayer and saved me from serious injury or death.

Elisha Prayed and the Lord Blinded the Enemy

The King of Aram and his army surrounded Elisha. But Elisha knew a King much more powerful. Our Lord is the King of King and the Lord of Lords and responded to the prayers of Elisha.

2 Kings 6:18 As the Aramean army advanced toward him, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, please make them blind.” So the Lord struck them with blindness as Elisha had asked. 19 Then Elisha went out and told them, “You have come the wrong way! This isn’t the right city! Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are looking for.” And he led them to the city of Samaria. 20 As soon as they had entered Samaria, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, now open their eyes and let them see.” So the Lord opened their eyes, and they discovered that they were in the middle of Samaria. Believe God Will Answer Your Prayers

God always answers prayers, but it may not be the answer we are looking for. He may say yes, no, or not yet. Our prayers are always answered with God’s infinite wisdom in a way that will fulfill His plan and His timing.

Mark 11:24 I (Jesus) tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. 25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” [3]

We must not forget that at times God does not answer our prayer because we have not forgiven someone. This shows the importance of forgiving others as the Lord forgives us.

Remember, when we are afraid or hurting, we can ask God for help. When friends or loved ones are struggling, we can talk to God on their behalf. Is there someone God wants you to intervene on behalf of today? To hear more about the power of prayer, listen here:
