The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Hebrews 11:6 - Please Him With Faith - Free Art Download ...

I am a person who likes to please other people and maybe you are also. But what about pleasing God? Have you ever wondered how to please God?

Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. [1]

Sometimes we think pleasing God begins with doing things for God and hoping to stay on His good side. Pleasing God begins as we place our trust in Him. This is a priority for God in our relationship with Him. Is God asking you to trust Him more?

Asa Pleased God

2 Chronicles 14:Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the Lord his God. He removed the foreign altars and the pagan shrines. He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles.[2]

Asa believed in and trusted God. This allowed God to guide his actions. Asa removed the idols of the nation because they were destructive to the people’s walk with the Lord. Removing the idols was an overflow of His faith.

Pleasing God Affects those around Us

As King Asa began to tear down the false idols, it had a positive effect on those around Him. The King through his actions was showing the people that worshiping false gods was not pleasing to God. King Asa’s actions influenced many people to return to the Lord.

Each of us has a sphere of influence in our lives. How do your actions affect those around you? What difference can you make in the Kingdom of God as you demonstrate your trust in God through your actions?

Pleasing God Changes Your Direction in Life

When you focus on pleasing God, the Lord gives you an entire new focus in life. This focus is more fulfilling and peaceful that the focus of the world.  As we seek to please God, not only will our lives be better, but the lives of those we love will be better as well. The more we love Jesus, the more we will love others. And wholehearted devotion to Christ will satisfy us more than all of the treasures and pleasures of this world ever could.

This doesn’t mean that there won’t be struggles. Our enemy, Satan, doesn’t like to lose territory and will fight to get it back. But God will help us overcome. To hear more about pleasing God, listen here: https://podpoint.com/light-of-christ-church-podcast/seeking-the-lord-changes-my-life-asa
