People maybe surprised to learn that Jesus still heals today. For about two years my two index fingers bothered me because of arthritis. Some of the people of my church gathered around me one afternoon and placed their hands on my hands. I could feel heat coming from their hands as they prayed for me. Ninety percent of this arthritis went away right after they prayed, and the remaining ten percent went away in the next twelve months. This was about five years ago, and the problem has never reoccurred. Praise the Lord. Our Lord still heals today!
The Paralyzed Man was Healed
The friends of the paralyzed man brought him to Jesus, but when the house was too full for them to get in. This did not stop them, soon they were up on the roof making a hole in it so they could lower their paralyzed friend.
Luke 5:24Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”25 And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!” [1]
Jesus Wants to Heal You!
Do you need healing today? Healing can be emotional, spiritual, or physical. When it comes to healing don’t be afraid to ask someone to pray for you or pray for yourself. Sometimes, God heals people immediately or sometimes the Lord chooses to help us walk through the problem we are enduring. My father was healed of cancer when he went to heaven. He was healed, but in the way the Lord desired, not what I desired.
Unresolved sin or disobedience can block God’s healing power. We must make sure our lives are fully submitted to God in order to successfully resist satan (Ref. James 4:7). But because Jesus came to “destroy the works of the devil” (Ref. 1 John 3:8), we can have victory over sin, disease, depression, poverty, and every other attack, when our lives are under God’s authority.
Remember not to give up when you are praying for healing. The Lord hears our prayers and honors those who faithfully seek him.
Prayer for Healing
Lord, look upon me with eyes of mercy. May Your healing hand rest upon me, may Your life-giving powers flow into every cell of my body and into the depths of my soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring me to wholeness and strength for service in Your Kingdom. Amen.[2]
