The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Psalms 103:10 | Scripture Pictures by Verse | Amazing Facts

We can be eternally thankful that as believers in Jesus we don’t get what we deserve! The Lord did not have to send His Son Jesus into the world, but He did. Ephesians 1:4Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.[1]

The Lord did not have to call you to faith, but He did. God chose you! Just let that sink in for a while. Maybe no one else would choose you but the Lord did. Psalm 103:10He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. 11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. 12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. [2] Those are just amazing verses to meditate on.

The Prodigal Son Did Not Get What He Deserved

The prodigal son had left home and wasted his father’s money. He humbly returns to his father not knowing what to expect. To his surprise, his father is merciful beyond his imagination. Luke 1520 So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. 21 His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’ 22 “But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. 23 And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, 24 for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began. [3]

Be Thankful God Gives Us What We Don’t Deserve

God wants us to accept the peace that comes from having a relationship with Him. We are His creation and are made in his image. Even when we struggle with sin, He said that we are worth it. We do not deserve His grace and forgiveness that Paul writes about.

Ephesians 2:8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [4]
