The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

Starry Eyed - Isaiah 40:26 | Starry eyed, Mops crafts ...

Often, when I look at nature is when God amazes me. Have you had an opportunity to observe the stars on a clear evening and looked up with wonder at God’s creation? This is what the prophet Isaiah says about the stars.

Isaiah 40:26Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. [1]

When our children were born, their little hands and perfect eyes were amazing. It made me stop and ponder the complexity of this little person that only God could create. Scripture gives us insight into God creating each of us. Psalm 139:13You (God) made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. [2]

Think of all the work the Lord put into your creation. The best part of all creation is you. You were no accident and God placed you on this earth to have a relationship with Him and to build His Kingdom.

The Great Catch of Fish was Amazing

Peter had been fishing all night and had not caught anything until Jesus told him to go out into deeper water and let down his net

Luke 5:And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking… For Peter was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. 10 His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed. [3]

Peter was amazed at the great catch of fish, but he would be more amazed in the future as the Lord called him to fish for people. God had more for Peter and was calling him into a deeper relationship. God also has more as you let the Holy Spirit lead you.

God’s Grace is Amazing

God’s grace is His undeserved love. His grace continually amazes me because we don’t deserve it, yet the Lord has lavished upon us. Ephesians 1:7He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.[4]

Jesus purchased your freedom by His death on the cross. Wow, that is amazing, and He did it for you and for me. If you have never asked Jesus into your heart as your Savior, today He is calling you because of His amazing grace. The Lord wants to adopt you into his family; that’s amazing!

When God amazes me, it is surprising. Listen here:
