How To Spot A Bad Wholesale Deal: 4 Warning Signs

Does God warn his children of what is coming? We see God warns of the future in Scripture; it happens repeatedly. By building the ark Noah was a warning to his generation (2 Peter 2:5). The prophet Jonah had a simple message to the people of Nineveh. Jonah 3:4Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!”[1] Jesus warned Peter that satan wanted to sift him and the other disciples like wheat. Luke 22:31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat”.[2]

Have you ever received a personal warning from God? How did you respond to the warning? God does give us warnings if we are listening because He loves us and wants to help us.

Elisha Warns the King of Israel

2 Kings 6:When the king of Aram was at war with Israel, he would confer with his officers and say, “We will mobilize our forces at such and such a place.” But immediately Elisha, the man of God, would warn the king of Israel, “Do not go near that place, for the Arameans are planning to mobilize their troops there.” 10 So the king of Israel would send word to the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he would be on the alert there. [3] The King of Israel paid attention and gave heed to the warnings given by Elisha. This in turn saved the nation from attack.

God’s Warnings Give Us Choices

When God warns us, He gives us choices. We can continue the path we are on or choose a different one. Sometimes a warning is not that we are doing wrong, but a warning to stay away from sinful behavior, or not go someplace for our personal protection.

God is ready to help us when we are making important decisions. He wants us to rely on Him. Remember, we need to ask the Lord for wisdom to make the decisions that are in alignment with God’s will.

God’s warnings may come as you read Scripture, through other people, or simply through your conscience and thoughts. James 1:If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. [4] Satan is always looking to deceive us so he can destroy God’s plan for our lives. Take time to listen to God’s warnings and obey the voice of the Holy Spirit.
