Do you need to be uplifted today? The fact that God is with us is an amazing, powerful reality that we should meditate on. Isaiah, the prophet, prophesized about the coming of a Messiah who would be with us. Isaiah 7:14 All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).[1] This prophecy was made 700 years before Jesus was born and this very prophecy was repeated to Joseph when the angel told him that Mary was pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
Before His Ascension Jesus Promised, “I am with You Always.”
The last thing someone tells you is usually very significant. The last thing that Jesus told the disciples was,Matthew 28:20“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [2] Why was this message to the disciples so important? Jesus was ascending into heaven, but He would be with them in Spirit.
As Believers in Jesus the Holy Spirit Dwells in Us
There is no closer relationship than the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. This puts “God is with Us” into a new perspective. 2 Timothy 2:14“Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.” [3]
How comforting to know that wherever we go, God is with us. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations and wonder if God knows what is going on in our lives. We may feel so alone and even depressed and may not be able to feel God’s presence. At this time, we must look to God’s Word and remember the Holy Spirit dwells in all those who believe in Jesus as their Savior.
God is with Us to Guide and Care for Us
Jesus tells His disciples shortly before He died for our sins on the cross of the coming of the Holy Spirit. John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.[4] The Lord has given the believers in Jesus a special gift of the Holy Spirit. Take time to praise the Lord today about how “God is with us.”
