Do you need hope with all that is going on in this chaotic world? I believe if we are honest with ourselves, we all need hope. Why do we have Bible prophecy? It gives us hope. Hope changes the way we perceive the present and the future. Merriam Webster defines hope: To expect with confidence. [1]
The Psalmist tells us to place our hope in the Lord. Psalm 130:7Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows. [2] When our hope is in the Lord, we are building on a foundation that is solid rock. The Lord will never fail us and will always keep His promises. Our enemy satan wants to take away people’s hope so they live a life of despair. Despair is a fiery dart that our enemy loves to throw out in attempt to destroy people.
Bible Prophecy Gives Us Hope!
When Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of Good and Evil, sin entered the world and they were sent out of the Garden of Eden. This was a consequence of their sin, and eventually they would die, but God also gave them hope. The hope was one day the Lord would send a Savior.
Genesis 3:15 I (The Lord) will make you (satan) and your brood enemies of the woman and all her children; The woman’s child will stomp your head, and you will strike his heel.[3] It would be thousands of years before the Savior came, but he would come just as it was written. When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He delivered a fatal wound to satan.
The angel reminded Joseph about the coming of the Messiah. Joseph’s wife was pregnant by the Holy Spirit and would give birth to Jesus fulfilling the many prophecies of the coming of the Messiah. Matthew 1:22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: 23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’ ” [4]
Bible Prophecies Remind Us That Jesus Will Come Again and End All Evil
Zechariah, the prophet foretells the second coming of Jesus. Zechariah 14:4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west.[5] Every day that goes by we are one day closer to the second coming of Jesus. Revelation 21:4Jesus will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” [6] What an amazing day that will be.
