The Light of Christ Journey

Encouraging people on their journey with Christ

What We Believe - Christ Life Bible Church

God puts His plans in our hearts. Are you aware that God has a plan for your life? His plans are so important that He places them in our heart so they can be fulfilled. Nehemiah was called by God to rebuild the walls in Jerusalem that had been torn down by the Babylonians and God put this on his heart to rebuild them.

Nehemiah 2: 11 So I (Nehemiah) arrived in Jerusalem. Three days later, 12 I slipped out during the night, taking only a few others with me. I had not told anyone about the plans God had put in my heart for Jerusalem.[1]

Why Does God put His Plans on My Heart?

The Bible reveals to us that the Lord has a plan for our life. Perhaps you never realized that. If you already knew God has a plan, He wants to reaffirm that for you. The world tells us to follow our dreams, but the Lord tells us to follow the Lord’s dreams or plans for our life.

For many years in my own life, I followed my own plan, which was not very fruitful or fulfilling. Following God’s plan for our life is life changing! Paul writes about the plans He has for us. Ephesians 2:God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. [2]

God put His plans on our hearts because He is the one who knows what those plans are. By putting His plans on our hearts, He is communicating what those plans are. This is the work of the Holy Spirit.

God’s Plans Always Stretch Us

God’s plans for our life always stretch us and lead us to depend more on Him. Nehemiah was a cupbearer for King Artaxerxes. He was not a builder with knowledge to reconstruct the walls of Jerusalem yet God chose him for this task. Nehemiah had to rely on God on what to do and how to go about gathering a work force to complete this assignment. Nehemiah was not a manager or leader as a cupbearer but the Lord gave him the skills of a great leader.

Seeking God’s Plans for Our Lives

Not only does God place His plans on our hearts, He prompts us to pray to Him to seek what those plans are. Is God prompting you right now to seek His plans for your life? Jesus tells us about seeking Him for the plans He has for us.  Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. [3]
